More Sparx Info
On meeting the other guys: I've known Justin since I was 11 and setting up a group has always been our dream. We met Josh in London about 4 years ago and formed a three-piece group. But the plan all along had been for a five-piece group, so then we hooked up with David and Jamie.
On Triple 8's sound: Ballsy- a lot harder than other stuff you may have heard, especially in this country. There are a few ballads on the album, but we're not a boy band that just do slow songs. We're also totally int our performances. We want to put on shows that make people go, "WOW"!
On ladies: I met Destiny's Child a few years ago. I'm definitely a Beyonce fan. I think women are more attractive when hey can sing and do what Beyonce does!
On his girlfriend: I've been with her for about three years. She's cool and keeps me normal.
On arsey celebs: To be honest, most of them are. There are alots of attitudes around this business. I'm not naming anyone, though!
On who he'd most like to knock out: My maths teacher. He hated me!
My worst habit is... Biting my nails.
The best thing about me is... I'm a very good friend.
Triple 8 are much better than... Everything's that's come out of this country for a long time.
I have a weakness for... Music, I'm far too passionate about it.
Music is my first love, but my second is... Football.
My dream girl is... Alicia Keys, she's so talented. I'm really attracted to creative people.
If we don't get to Number 1... I'll be disappointed it's such a great track!

Are you a stereotypical pisces?
Definitely. I’m sensitive and there are sides to me – one day I’ll be loud and want to party all night, the next i'll just want to stay in my room.
What do you do when you’re daydreaming up in your room?
Just put on music and chill out. I talk on the phone and chat to my friends and family. I just wish we had a bath at our house – I love to lie there for hours in the bubbles.
When was the last time you cried?
I can’t remember. I get sad when I speak to my gran. She lives on her own in Scotland and she’s quite old.
Have you always been a loner?
Pretty much. I had my head in the clouds as a kid. I used to bore my mum to tears going on about how I wanted to be a singer or a footballer. She’d tell me to have a back up plan, but I was like “Nah trust me!”
Have you done any boring jobs?
I worked in a pub for three years, cleaning up sick and wee. And I cleaned pots and pans in a pizza restaurant for a year.
Have you always loved singing?
Yeah. I couldn’t wait to finish school so I could get home and sing. I was a nerd. I would get nervous if I had to sing in front of people, so the only time I’d sing was in the park and that was to the girls. I couldn’t chat them up, so I used to sing to them.
What do you dream about?
I have obscure dreams. I once dreamed I was superman but, instead of Lois Lane. I’d hooked up with Margaret Thatcher. I looked at her, she looked at me and it was lovely. I woke up and decided I needed help. It’s disturbing just talking about it.
Do you know you look like Justin Timberlake?
That’s what people say. I don’t want anyone thinking I’m trying to be like Justin, though, because I’m not. He’s the most fancied man in the whole universe at the moment, so it’s not a bad thing. I want to look like Sparx, but I can live with looking like Justin

Can you remember what was in yer first wage packet?
A twix! I’d a paper round at 14. My wage was 2.50 minus food!
What else?
I worked in a sports shop. I got sacked for sleeping. Then Pizza Express… then supervisor in The Hogshead pub for three years!
Oooh! You were the boss!
Yeah, it was nice – expect cleaning up sick! (thinks) I got sacked from everything else. I worked in insurance. I sold double glazing over the phone…
Yer king ‘o the call centre!
My other one was “Hello talking pages! Ian speaking, how can I help you?!” I wore a funny mic so I thought I was Jacko!
No previous brushs with fame?
Nah. Just home – made footage. (clothes on?) Mosty off! But we won’t go into that!
Did yer ‘rents beg you to study?
I was absolutley, minus useless with girls. I’d spots, curtains, one eyebrow, skinny. A stud!
Ah well! Who were yer mates?
Me and Justin grew up in a multi – cultural area but all our mates were huuuge! Like 6’6”
So you felt safe?
Exactly! Now they’re saving us from their sisters! They say, “No you’re can’t fancy my mate”
Does it feel weird to you?
Well I used to baby – sit one girl who’s now a huge Triple Eight fan! She doesn’t need me now, but if Josh were to offer…!
